Beijing Cup: Local players to represent U.S. in Soccer Competition

Donovan said the tournament organizers originally wanted to bring Delbarton to China to play, but that would have been nearly impossible. Instead, the Green Wave hosted an invitation-only tryout after the season. Almost 50 players — rising sophomores, juniors and young seniors — from around the state tried out, whittled down to 16. Five are from NJSIAA Non-Public A champion Delbarton, and three more from Non-Public B champ Gill St. Bernard's.
Liam Moylan (West Morris), Dylan Kahn (Bernards), Mateo Panizza (Randolph) and Alec Kaminer (Paramus) are the only public school players on the New Jersey roster...
“...If it hadn't been for goalkeeper Kaminer, who made a number of top class saves from close range and distance the game may have ended differently..." Luke Green - NJ All-Stars Assistant Coach

THE RECORD
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS – Alec Kaminer knew what was coming even before he got up. But after more than 100 minutes of back-and-forth soccer, this was one onslaught he was happy to face. The Paramus sophomore made three saves on penalty kicks Sunday, the last one clinching the Spartans’ 5-4 (3-2 PK) victory over fifth-seeded Bergen Tech in the second round of the Bergen County boys soccer tournament.
“I felt good about going into PKs with Alec,” Paramus coach Al Romeo said. “We worked on penalty kicks for about 40 minutes [Saturday], and he was tremendous, stopping everything.”
“It was crazy,” Kaminer said. “I’d never been in a full-fledged penalty-kick shootout before. We have a lot of seniors on this team and I didn’t want to see us knocked out of the county tournament because of me.” Instead, the Spartans will be moving on because of him

Best Assets: Like all good teams, the Spartans strength lies in the back. Junior goalie Alec Kaminer is the leader of the group. Spartans coach Al Romeo feels like he may be the best keeper in Bergen County. “He amazes me,” said Romeo.
